Permitting

Can I obtain my own sign permit for my sign?

In some situations you as the sign owner can obtain your own sign permit depending on how the code reads. In some municipalities you have to be a licensed sign erector in that particular municipality to submit an application for a sign permit. It can be a cumbersome process and some municipalities want sign companies doing it as they are more familiar with the process.

Do I need to get a permit?

We can handle all permitting nonsense for you! Navigating all the city regulations and permitting can be really confusing, but when you work with La Crosse Sign Group we handle all the "red tape" for you. We have sign ordinances in our data base and work with most all municipalities on sign permits, so we have a firm understanding of what it takes to obtain the permits.

How do I know if my sign needs a permit?

If your sign is to be read from a public street, or is visible on the outside of the building, there is a 99.99% chance that your sign will need to be permitted by the local or county municipality.

How long does it take to get a permit?

This will depend on the municipality. Some permits we can get the same day, some permits can take 2 months to get. If we have to get a variance or conditional use permit for your sign it can take even longer. Your sign consultant can give you an approximate time for permitting once they know the scope of project and municipality you are in.
